Whoops! On yesterday’s Sunday Musings, I accidentally omitted the links to the Advent calendar. No excuses. I spent a lot of time putting up Christmas decorations this weekend and I just forgot.
Thanks to those of you who are following along and sent me comments and messages about this omission.
I hope you’ll enjoy these “windows.” I reread them this morning and appreciated the emphasis on gifts and holiday memories.
In 2021, I sent a post every day in December as an online Advent Calendar. This year, I hosted a gratitude month in November with daily posts instead of December daily offerings.
But you can revisit last year’s Advent calendar for 2022 — or visit it for the first time if you weren’t at The Cottage last year!
I’ll send out the links for the entire week each Sunday. Just bookmark this Sunday Musings, come back to this newsletter each day, and click on the link for the appropriate date. Some of the days of the week (especially the Sundays) will be a little off because it was assembled for last year.

INSPIRATION
ADVENT
(On a theme by Dietrich Bonhoeffer)
Look how long
the tired world waited,
locked in its lonely cell,
guilty as a prisoner.
As you can imagine,
it sang and whistled in the dark.
It hoped. It paced and puttered about,
tidying its little piles of inconsequence.
It wept from the weight of ennui
draped like shackles on its wrists.
It raged and wailed against the walls
of its own plight.
But there was nothing
the world could do
to find its freedom.
The door was shut tight.
It could only be opened
from the outside.
Who could believe the latch
would be turned by the flower
of a newborn hand?
— Pamela Cranston, ADVENT (On a Theme by Dietrich Bonhoeffer) from her book, Searching for Nova Albion
