A beautiful article. While I/we can differ on specific points, the essence is in our common essential love/faith. That, to me, is what is important it is our hearts moving together.

Thank you for sharing. I do think Kamala Harris will be a much needed breath of fresh air!

Jesus does call humanity to Himself as the only way to the Father. One may view that as being "exclusive," but the heart of the Gospel is that God dwelt among us to take on our sins to welcome all nations into His Kingdom. So yes, it is the largest table--God does embrace all of humanity. But, the Bible is clear that Christ is the only way.

But, the point I would disagree on with you is that it seems you are elevating a hope in pantheism, a belief in all things rather than a saving faith in Jesus alone. Maybe I misinterpreted what you said, but that's how it came across in the post.

Thanks for opening up for community comments!

No, not pantheism. My theological stance is much more that of pan-en-theism, the idea of God with and in and through all things. God is not all things. But God is with all things.

As for Jesus as the Way (a theme I've written on - and have an entire chapter in my upcoming book on Jesus), I find myself fairly close to this understanding, as explained by the late Marcus Borg, who was a good friend: https://day1.org/articles/5d9b820ef71918cdf2002d99/dr_marcus_j_borg_the_only_way

Also, Brian McLaren has a wonderful pamphlet on the topic of Jesus the Way available on his website. I commend it!

Peace. Thanks for writing.

What if Christ is indeed the only way, but Christianity is not equal to Christ. What if Christ speaks regularly to people outside of what we traditionally have thought of as Christianity? Just a thought to ponder.

Oh for sure. Much of America views "being Christian" is having to be a full-blooded Republican (or being a progressive-leaning Democrat for that matter). We definitely love separating into camps.

I wrote about Jesus being the only Way here: https://www.scripturesauce.com/approach-god-through-jesus/
