Diana, I love this blessing from John O’ Donahue. I shared the first and last verses of this blessing as part of my Christmas letter to friends and family in December. In December of 2021, I sent a copy of his book, BLESS THE SPACE BETWEEN US, to my sister-in-law after my brother passed away. His blessings and reflections truly touch my heart. Thank you for all of your blessings through the years.

And I thank you for this formative mode of gratitude! This feels like a layer underneath typical thanksgiving.

Thank you for bringing to light the simple practice of gratitude. Taking time to acknowledge and be grateful for all we have and all that is to come is grounding. The poems are beautiful and I enjoyed reading them. It's amazing what words speak to our spirit and warms the soul.

With gratitude

Thanks for your insight! I was thinking about the same, being grateful for 2022, not being ignorant of the bad things that happened, Ukraine, weather disasters, mass shootings, and more but personally I have been blessed. Daughter graduated with a second master and I became granddad for the first time!

Loved and miss John O'Donohue, read his poems and other musings regularly. Just posted the same blessing from his book. Like minds.

Appreciate the thought to give thanks for the year past… the learnings, the losses, the gifts, the blessings… for the Presence of the Holy One in all I experienced in 2022. As I look forward to living more fully as God’s beloved and becoming more like Christ in 2023, I want to be a better example of grace received and grace given!

Grieving deeply especially after death of my mother in horrific accident with 18-wheeler. ThakksGiving week. Relentlessly ravaging progressive disease. Still breathing. Hour by hour. Grace. Thanks for New Zealand prayer book . Compline. The poem you shared. Still able to touch though in fiery pain. Still able to cry and smile.
