Because of the Canadian time change, and not doing our usual annual preparation of changing our clocks, we missed church yesterday. I wish I had remembered your Column, Diana. That would have been comfort indeed. Thank you for not forgetting your readers. I’ll pray for you, Nora. Joy is a wonderful place ❤️

Thank you for assuring us that we all are indeed vulnerable - none more so than the people of Ukraine. I couldn't help but assign the fox metaphor to Putin. Praying that the key to his vulnerability may be found sooner than later.

The only choice we have as we mature is how we inhabit our vulnerability, how we become larger and more courageous and more compassionate through our intimacy with disappearance.

— David Whyte, “Vulnerability,” Read the entire prose poem and listen to Whyte read it.

These lines have captured my imagination especially the final few words: "through our intimacy with disappearance". Don't we humans fight so against that reality and if we have worldly power how much have we seen that power used to crush others because there is "power" to do so. Such a hellish delusion. I suppose I wondered how an adult would help all the children find their way through the tragedy of the fox (the animal fox) doing what foxes do to nourish themselves and their own kits. Despite horror, how to be present with the young and give them opportunity to process the awful things that happen despite our dreams of something beautiful taking shape. I wept at all the children being rushed away from the devastation realizing I'd probably have taken that course as well, fearful of all these young eyes would have seen and all their wonderings about death and injustice and not being alive and what that means. Dealing with a human fox, and unfortunately there are many among us, it seems courage must become the order of the day whatever our personal situation. We see what courage means through the endurance of Ukrainians and their government. There is also a steadfast courage when faced with the many brutal untruths of our own nation and too many of its elected leadership - the terrible attention to doing injustice through the facade of lawmaking. We have no idea how all of this will unfold. But the time certainly reveals the intimacy of disappearance. Thank you for such a rich reflection.

Today's musings was timely for us as we were discussing the vulnerability of God in our Bible study this past week. We like to think of God as being "all mighty." We forget that She allows Herself to be vulnerable to us puny humans.

I also couldn't help to compare the situation in Ukraine, where Zelensky has remained vulnerable to the fox in Moscow. May God save the people of Ukraine and soften the hearts of Putin and his advisers.

I’ve copied your last paragraph into my journal to remember.

Thanks, Diana, for your strong yet gentle, honest reminder of how we’re called and companioned to live…embracing our vulnerability…the world’s (e.g. Ukraine, among so many places and populations), because of the One who lived such an attitude toward life!

I’m currently Invisible Women by Caroline Creado-Perez. As a white male I appreciate being educated on how the Fox’s perspective is so embedded in everything. Thank you for your clarity of thought on the feminine aspects of the divine. I’m also listening to you and Tripp in Deconstructing Jesus. Thank you the class.

Point of the story. Jesus grieves. He can't save everybody. Not his choice. Not God's. But they sure do try. More "woulds", less "would nots". Momma hen is calling . . . with a warning. Such unwanted negativity. Truth hurts. But there's balm in Gilead.

Thank you for this - as a hospice chaplain, my days are spent learning to inhabit my own vulnerability alongside my terminally vulnerable friends. Risking vulnerability and risking delight with them insist that I remain intimate with disappearance and loss -

We are watching this fox and hen play out before the eyes of the world. Zelensky hovers over his people and they risk their lives to protect the freedom to be vulnerable but whole from the fix, Putin. Thank you Diane. This was an important and timely read.

This is a very thought-provoking reflection, expressed so beautifully. Thank you very much Diana. Also found Session Two with you and Tripp on De/constructing Jesus very helpful in the quest to better understand the Christian message. Again thank you.
