"Good is the Flesh that the Word has Become" by Brian Wren is delightful! Has it been put to music?

Thank you, Dianna, for the beautiful benediction for the ending of last year and the beginning of this one. What you shared was such an encouragement to my tired heart. I loved all of what you said, but the T. S. Elliott snippet was awesome. Blessings to you all at the start of this new adventure in life, and thank you for sharing your life with all of us.

After crying my way through deconstruction, my New Years resolution is to make it to 2025 while learning to be me. I am ready to start over at the beginning. Being profound no longer matters. Walking in love, feeling love, and giving love matters.

I love John's big picture view and when I feel fear of the World events I remember these words of John and the awareness that our Living Lord never abandoned humanity.

So many are focused on a distant Messiah that waits to return while I focus on the Messiah that never left and walks with me every day.

In darkness I must keep my light shining so others can see the light never abandoned them.

History as if happens is almost always full of darkness. In books even biblical writing history and herstory seems so swift and self evident.

As we move from 2023 to 2024 let the light shine. Be the light in the darkness.

Shine on!

Little Gidding by T. S. Eliot is perfect for the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Waiting patiently in a hospital room for testing to see if by chance my cancer has spread. Dianna, you andvT.S. Eliot hit perfection. It is possible my life will be somewhat shorter in 2024. But that will be a Beginning as I remain within the Cosmic Christ. As an individual I may cease but the spiritual force will ride with exuberance forever. Peace to you all.

Thank you for all these beautiful musings - all these familiar poems that I visit every year around this time. Adding the scripture study enlivens my spirit to reflect upon my past year as I prepare for the new year! I needed to be refreshed in the scripture and thanks to you - and all my favorite Cottage dwellers - my spirit is refreshed.

Really wonderful way to begin this New Year's Eve morning...and the 8th Day of Christmas, I believe it is. Like many have already stated, John's prologue is a most favorite passage: I remember memorizing it for a youth group choir gig long ago...and I quoted it to my high school classes often. "...and the Word became Flesh..." I'm fairly new to the Cottage sub list and have grown to really enjoy all the 'extras,' as well as the Musings. Particularly love the way you weave poetry into your presentations: today's choices are very nice. Growing up the son of a Nazarene preacher, leaving that world completely and then finding a renewed source of the Grand Tradition via Merton and Rohr--and now Brian M-- I greatly appreciate your perspectives and offerings, Diana. Thank you... A most Happy New Year to you and family. In what I feel will be a coming struggle to find hopeful growth, I look forward to seeing how you add to the evolution of the Radical Resilience I read about from Brian in today's CAC reflection. I think you'll be a good source there...

Beautiful Commentary.

I also think of Genesis 15.

“The Word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision”

“Abram believed the Lord and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.”

I sometimes think of the Word of God as the Mind of God. I am thinking about Abram and we humans humans receiving that awareness of the Mind and Mystery of God.

Thank You Diana for your insightful commentaries.
