Very well written, Diana. Thank you for your eloquently written analysis of our not nice, Senator. As a teacher, I really appreciate your support. Christ's message was one of unity not division...and many "Christians" are not being very Christlike with their fears and divisiveness...

What, life isn’t complicated enough trying to remember LGBTQIA+, now I have to remember SWCMSM also? I’m old, Diana, and feeling older everyday…

Thank you for speaking out against politics and politicians going far beyond “not being nice”. Transgender children are being terrorized all across the country, parents are being pressured into moving out of many states and sadly we won’t even hear about the suicide attempts of trans kids forced out of simple day to day medical care of supportive doctors. Education is being turned on it’s ear and in general the witch hunts have been set in place.

Her impassioned words (which I listened to several times) made me cry. Felt just a little bit like truth.

I am a white, Christian, Married, Urban Father and Grandfather. I like what you wrote...nicely. Now, let's get on to the business of fixing our infrastructure, providing decent pay for teachers, and promoting CRT as well. The State of Virginia might have once been the cradle of the Confederacy. Now its citizens have grown up some...like you and other thinking people who live the Christian faith. Thank you!

Finally a politician in my home state has shown the intelligence, principle, guts, and what truly makes America great, far too lacking there, too my chagrin. BRAVA!

That is wonderful! We all need courage to speak truth to bullies and listen to our inner voice to know who we are - not what someone calls us.

Part of the problem our nation is facing is a decided lack of understanding about the roots of the kind of political rhetoric being used by those elected to office. Everyone must become more able to both hear the dog whistles and analyze what candidates from political parties are going to do. We have obvious templates staring us right in the face. If we are not willing to admit that there is one party currently which has an agenda (not a platform) of ruling by bullying, innuendo, fearmongering, going after certain groups, constantly riling the basest of the base, then the white, suburban, ostensibly Christian mom, dad, sis, bro, teacher, whomever, will fall into the culture war trap and have their vote used as a cudgel. It is so easy to fall into right wing ideology and terminology. Any thoughtful person looks at the states where this particular political party is in the majority or if not in the majority still working to undermine democratic processes and institutions and they'll say, "I cannot vote for candidates from this party." That is unfortunate because a two party system is challenging enough for democracy, but now there is only one party that supports democracy and it isn't Youngkin's or Theis's.

So, basically the Repubs. are going after the Karen's of the world, through social networks because they are already angry at the world and homophobic and racists

Thank you, Diana, for making my day! Democrats need to expose more of the dark campaign practices of those on the right for what they are - evil.

YES AND THANK YOU. I heard her full speech yesterday as she was presenting or a video right after. Straight, White, Christian, Married, Suburban moms come in all ages. I was one of the early ones.! Before we had all the language we do today. Glad to see the torch has been passed to you and Mallory. Mean Behavior and bullying Keep up the wonderful work!

A powerful speech as is your piece, Diana. Tell me, why aren’t young, up and coming spokespeople like Mallory and Corey Booker being nominated for the Dems’ presidential ticket instead of geriatrics like Biden. Is the U.S. presidential process invariably accessible only to old white guys Reagan, Bush Sr, Clinton, W, and Trump with Obama having been the lone exception. I was just in France listening to their comparatively youthful presidential front-runners. I just don’t understand why the Oval Office seems to consistently be the last stop before Sunset Lodge.
