Read the Gospel of Mary Magdalen. "Magdalen" means "A light unto my people." Magdalen's Gospel is the only gospel written by someone who actually knew Jesus. After all, she was married to him. She was pregnant by him and was escorted out of the Middle East to safety because Herod would have killed her to get rid of her child. She eventually traveled to the South of France where she established the Church of the Black Madonna. It is entirely fitting to revere the Magdalen today, International Day of Women. Read her Gospel. It will blow your mind..

Interestingly enough, she seems to have a voice and cadence similar to Kamala Harris.

Could this be "the greatest sermon ever preached?" I have followed Ms. Schrader-Polczer's journey with Ms. Butler Bass, listened to their essays and interviews and now this. It is a remarkable explication and denouement of the Mary Magdalene story. Well done Diana.

So nice to Megan McKenna posting-I just pulled out Megan's Stations of the Cross to read once again. The post today I recall from the Wild Goose Festival. Mary of Magdala was a leader in the early church, powerful, yes.

I think you’re absolutely right— she always was the model. The one who spills everything on the floor for the sake of compassion. The first and the last one who sees the Word in the flesh. And who she is fits the scriptural pattern perfectly: she is the most despised possibility, the woman who doesn’t even stay within the confines of the female. And in response to being despised, she acts with love. Her erasure is one more macro-parable of the world finding God’s ways intolerable. Thanks for sharing this one, and for making it public. Fascinating, but also inspiring.

Beautiful expression of the Divine Feminine, embodied, caring, connected, attending to the other and singing her song out loud. Glorious moment. Thank you for telling the story to hungry hearts ! CarolJ

Mary Magdalene's confession, witness and proclamation results in this hope and encouragement to us at this half-way point we occupy on earth. Just like the pilot on the flight to Hawaii. "Keep going. You'll get there. And you will get flowers when you arrive." Hooray!!
