These mornings (on the West Coast) when I look to clear away the load of email that's accumulated I stop at your advent window and slow down. Especially Dec 4 and today, the 6th. This year, the advent time we're in, between thanksgiving and Christmas, is a season of feeling my losses, but "Wonder" lifted me. Tomorrow I am leading a church book club discussion of "Becoming Duchess Goldblatt," the poignant and funny memoir. In following you, Diana, I'm like the followers of the author's avatar Duchess-- soaking up her "all available truth and beauty." Thank you.

Creating Wonder for our children our own and missional for those of us of a certain age for others. My sense of awe/wonder this morning was realizing from a "spot" on a morning show, that Tuesday is the 80th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor. NOOO! was my first thought then well of course you were a six month old on that day. !!!!! And I have memories of all the Wonder and awe and safety my parents and elders created for my sister and me. Thank you for this. Lets go on creating Wonder where we can. Thank you for this reminder.

One of my favorite traditions was decorating the Christmas Tree. Once adorned with all the ornaments we’d light it. And then we’d grab our pillows and lie underneath the tree. Listening to Christmas carols we’d wonder at the beauty of the tree and all the ornaments. To this day the sight and smell of pine tree, particularly Christmas trees, fills me with wonder.
