Funny that you mention your dad and blue lights, I have been doing that for several years until this year when (suggested by my wife) I added white lights so it is blue/white.
When I was growing up there was a house along Rockville Pike -- right next to the McDonald's -- that every year was outlined in blue lights for Christmas. We always called it, of course, the house with blue lights. It was a Victorian house and it was rumored to have an elevator inside it, something very posh and unknown in private residences in the 1960s. I always looked forward to seeing it every Christmas time because it was so different and beautiful. Thanks for taking me back there.
What a lovely story! I’ve loved the blue decor since I saw it in Germany and have also noticed that it is a Hanukkah color as well
