Diana, I just read David Brooks' August 10th post in NYT, " Hey, America, Grow Up!" and sensed an awakening of sorts as he outlined the past years' progression of culture in America. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on his article. I am so grateful to have been introduced to The Cottage by my seminarian daughter who at one time was an advisee of A. J. Levine at Vanderbilt School of Divinity. Prayers and support for you as you make such a marvelous contribution to religious thought. Shalom, Marilyn Turner

Thank you Diana. My work is concerned with the construction of the carceral state in Jim Crow SC, a harrowing yet textbook case of American fascism and the end product of another trinitarian collaboration between vigilantes, law enforcement, and the judiciary. I can think of no better way to succinctly describe its essence than through Haque: "Ultimately, fascism in all its forms is about the [self-declared] pure and true having the power of life and death over the impure and faithless."
Hi Tim. This digest is accessible to everyone. It is an open post and all the connecting links are open. You can send it on to others. Or, you can print out each of the three essays and do the paper thing. This kind of summary post is functionally an online booklet.

Excellent! Thank you. And...thank you for your work which helped me in my journey towards becoming Christian and in my further journey into ordained ministry. You gave me an example of reasonable faith as a young adult and then hope when it has been hard to find in the years since. Peace.
Thank you, Diana, for posting this series. I will study it and may use it for a conversation in my church. Since the Disciples General Assembly where we passed a resolution condemning Christian Nationalism, congregations are urged to educate themselves on this subject.
Diane, we absolutely love you. But...here it comes....go easy on Russell Moore.

Such profound words that awaken my complacent indifference!
Thank you. I loved these

Yet another Disciple here! Wondering if these essays are accessible to anyone so we can use them in such a class?
