Welcome to the Advent Zoom to the Cottage
To continue our journey into this season of waking and awakening, John Philip Newell joined me to talk about the incarnation — and learning to see the sacred in creation and in our lives. It was a beautiful, spiritually astonishing hour exploring our theological visions of the seasons of Advent and Christmas — and our shared hopes for Christianity shaped by longing and love.
Although this wasn’t a book talk per se, we do draw themes from John Philip’s new book, Sacred Earth/Sacred Soul: Celtic Wisdom for Reawakening to What Our Souls Know and Healing the World. I highly recommend it!
You can listen to our conversation as a podcast (above) or watch as a YouTube video (below). In the course of the conversation, I mentioned a musical piece performed by the Washington Chorus, “The Dream Isaiah Saw,” which is also posted below.
Thanks to all of you for making events like this possible. Enjoy!
I wonder if the Pandemic has been something like the flood and the ark. Earth breathes again, for at least a little while.

Diana- I had to miss the Zoom event yesterday and the conversation between you and John Philip Newell. I just had the opportunity to listen to this fascinating hour of Advent Awakening. Thank you! I would be so grateful to share this with my Spiritual Director but know that this may be available only to Subscribers to The Cottage. Could you offer guidance on how I might make YouTube access to this remarkable time available to someone else? I would be happy to gift a subscription or make a donation. At your convenience, thanks for letting me know.

I'd love to hear what you all think of this live event! Please leave comments. That really helps me to know who to invite and what kinds of conversations are most valuable for you.
