I, too, became viscerally enamored with Mary Magdalene some weeks ago. A friend mentioned that Richard Rohr, founder of the Center for Action and Contemplation and his staff were offering a class on her. The friend gave me a book that came out of that study, The Meaning of Mary Magdalene, by Cynthia Bourgeault, which I've read. She seems to think that Mary is still active in the world (Universe?). A different friend sent me your sermon. I'm thrilled with it. Still feel warm with it! Thanks! I hope it gets wide distribution! I'll join in that. You may have already known about or been in touch with the CAC project. I want to find out more about "The Fifth Way," the religious practice that apparently nurtured Jesus and Mary's relationship. I've also bought "The New New Testament," edited by Hal Taussig, which includes the non-canonical gospels, which record material after the resurrection not included. I hunger for more access to that Energy/Light that burned more brightly in those early days! I'm curious about your journey since this revelation. Is Mary still talking to you? Thanks for sharing! Blessings! Helen Taylor

Diana, I want to thank you. I'm working on a writing project, a memoir, a story of my being bound up, my dad being bound up, and my daughter being bound up. You just allowed yourself to be the apostle of liberation for me, my dead father, and my daughter. Thank you.

How I wish I would have known about this research before I preached on something else! This is so exciting!

As I listened to the Gospel and the sermon from the church I had logged into I thought of you and your experience at the cathedral, and the image I have from a school chapel of Jesus leaping off the cross. Then I was Blessed by your explication of the stories of Maria and the connection between Lazarus and the resurrection, later in the evening. All I could think or say is YES. As one student came up to me several years ago after I had led a Bible study for her youngish adult group connecting Christmas and Easter and said,"Now I get it." Her eyes were shining I would bet mine were too last night as I listened. The connection is -a mind and heart connection-for me. Lets share this learning and message. Thank you. Let us "listen with the ear of our heart."

A beautiful sermon Diana. Thank you for sharing it.

So if Libby Schrader is right maybe this could explain the 2nd ending of John’s gospel, chapter 21, with the emphasis on the brothers especially Peter??

You have explicated quite a piece of scholarship. Now it is up to us to take this insight and run with it and join Jesus on the street. The insulation of Jesus from the rest of us by incarcerating him in Christian churches must end if the world is to see the fruition of his teachings.

So the ancient scriptures were altered/mis-copied/edited often to fit the belief of the current power structure. What's new and why do you use Jesus Christ?? I thought it was Rabbi Jesus and the Universal/Cosmic Christ. Enjoy your writing though its sometimes a bit imaginative.

This has captured my imagination since Libbie Schrader's presentation at The Cottage. There is so much depth to the similarities between John 11 and John 20. Just tone example - when Jesus asks "Why do you weep?" at the tomb it has a completely different emotional impact when considering Jesus was weeping at the death of Lazarus. It is more of an invitation to explore her individual grief and sarrow rather than questioning it.

What a great sermon - especially about the research on who Mary Magdalene really was. It all makes sense now. Thanks for sharing this. I sent it on to Anne Howard and Faye Cox who has led Trinity in the study and practice of Mary Magdalene.

Thanks,

Iva

Over the last few months I have been pursuing an understanding of Miryam the Migdalah, the beloved companion and tower of strength. In her gospel, the vision given to her by Yeshua that she shares at the very end presents an absolutely clear description of the evolution of the human soul, a tree bearing fruit through stages of development. As a woman, her words were not accepted by the disciples, and yet reading them today bears witness to the truth. We are recipients of this truth, and can benefit greatly by applying freedom to the inner forum of our consciousness for the well being of all!

Dear Diana: Wow! Never thought of it in this way. I wrote a poem titled Lazarus in 2016 and published in 2017. It's short. I would love to share it with you but I am not sure how to send it

if you want it.
