Discover more from The Cottage
In the last month, the paid subscriber community at the Cottage has been revisiting my book, Christianity After Religion, as part of a summer study journey. I called the summer series BEYOND Christianity After Religion. It has been engaging, energizing, and surprisingly hopeful.
As part of the four-week series, Brian McLaren came to the Cottage for a discussion about the book — and the work we’ve both done thinking about the future of faith. It was a great conversation.
We talked about the late Phyllis Tickle’s 500 year cycles of change, emergence, awakenings, and paradigm shifts — and then it took off with new — and unplanned — ideas and insights. It reminded me of many of the conversations we’ve had in private or over the phone in the last two decades. This time, however, the Cottage listened in!
It was really good — too good to keep behind the paywall.
So, as a gift from the paid subscribers at the Cottage to the whole community, here it is: “Awakening with Brian McLaren.” We unlocked the video so you can listen, share, or use it in a book group or church class.
This is the final week of BEYOND Christianity After Religion. But you can still sign up for full access to the entire summer study series by upgrading to a paid subscription.
The summer series includes four video “mini lectures” from me, three recorded Q&A sessions, four new essays on Christianity After Religion with lively comment threads, this Zoom discussion with Brian, and an upcoming summary essay (on July 31) will include all the links and materials in a single post.
There’s no separate fee for the summer study. It is part of a regular paid subscription of $5 a month or $50 a year.
Please consider becoming a paid subscriber. About 85-90% of the Cottage is — and always will be — free to everyone. And I’m really grateful for EVERY subscriber — free and paid.
The paid subscription, however, provides you more opportunities in smaller groups to go deeper with important conversations and inspiring spiritual practices. And your financial contribution makes it possible for the Cottage to reach new readers who are hungry for a different kind of Christian faith and community.
Enjoy the video! No strings attached — just an invitation. Thank you for making the Cottage such a wonderful community.
