I’m praying for all the mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles and babies in Palestine who’ve lost their lives. I pray that comforting hands touch their bodies, that words of comfort be spoken over them, that tears of love wash their bodies. I’m praying for all those whose homes are destroyed and who like Mary, Joseph and Jesus find themselves wondering and wandering, searching for food and shelter. I pray that comforting hands reach out to them, that gentle words be spoken to them, that healing food be given to them, and that new shelter protect them. I pray that our prayers make a difference, however small, and that those who are suffering feel held by our communal prayers.
I am praying for one of my Republican senators— Thom Tillis — to have moral courage. He backed Ukraine in the past and has crossed the aisle once before on legislation. He is hard core conservative, but I’m praying that he breaks free from his fear of Musk.
I am praying for Zander, a young student organizer in Sarasota, Florida who totally inspires me- a 78 yr old woman. I sat with a woman I had never met last Sat morning at the Sarasota Art Museum breakfast before the art show preview. We discussed going to school board meetings. She invited me to her Unitarian church that was hosting a student organizer named Zander at 2 pm. I decided to get curious and learn what is happening here in Sarasota.(I am visiting from Gibsonia, PA during February). Wow!!! I got to watch, hear and connect with an amazing, young community organizer. He invites us to connect around shared values. Invest your time and energy in your community and be part of change. Identify core values and make a difference!! I pray for Zander, his vision and the education he will give and receive at Harvard this fall.

I was at a gaming convention over the weekend. During the day we created stories of adventurers over coming odds and afterwards groups gathered to drink and share life stories. I found myself connecting to a gamer in a one on one talk, who told me about how he has a high secure clearance job and how hard it was right now. I listened. It’s one of the things I do, hold stories. I’m placing my new friend here, asking for prayers for him, though I’m not sharing his name. Thank you in advance.
Thank you, Diana. This was just what I needed this morning. Some good suggestions for reading and reflection (I’m preaching this weekend, so special thanks there!), some action steps and some poetry. Today, I pray for survivors of domestic and sexual violence as the grant funding for the Office of Violence Against Women has been removed from the website. No new funding may be applied for in 2025. And I downloaded and used 5 Calls. What a helpful app! Not just for calling, which I had been doing anyway, but for up to date info on the votes of my Senators and Representatives and the wider issues we all face. Again, thank you!

I am praying that funds are released so Head Start children in Waukesha County, WI can go back to school and their caregivers have the needed child care so they can go back to work. Waukesha is a very red county.
I was looking at the PRRI survey data and found the state ranking intriguing. Of the states that voted for Trump, my state, Ohio, ranked lowest in support for Christian nationalism (percentage of adherents and sympathizers). That gives me a small amount of hope.
I also noted that the state that ranked dead last in their support for CN was Massachusetts, the state where my wife was born. I wonder if the shadow of the Puritan theocracy still influences the people there, in an inverse way.
"Paradise", a new series from Hulu relates the story of a techno-utopian Silicon Valley entrepreneur. The storyline is gripping and by the end of the first episode, we were hooked. We're now four episodes in and in reflecting on what we've seen so far, I'm struck by the lack of spiritual values by the "leader" of this organization. Understanding the importance of spiritual health is critical, as well as getting through this TOGETHER. Community is so important!
Standing in a place of love allows us to have solid ground beneath our feet. If nothing else can be counted upon to be true or constant, that place of love remains. Take a breath, allow it to become a prayer, and stand.
I pray for Federal judges to have the strength and clear eyes and minds to rule on motions, temporary restraining orders, and consent decrees to stop the authoritarian takeover of the government. Emergency motions at midnight on a Friday night, for example, give concern for attorneys for both sides and judges.
Prayers for my immigrant community and others like it. Prayers for community and church leaders in protecting and supporting our people. Prayers for allies to support and protect our neighbors.

Prayer for my child-in-law who wants to transition, but is now scared to death.
