I have been teaching the Gospel of Mark and recently participated in discussions about "Take up your cross and follow me" (8:34). The photo of the girl with outstretched arms is a new joyful and grateful vision of the cross I want to carry into my daily discipleship journey--the cross post-resurrection in us all. I'm grateful for your offerings to us.

How terrific to spend the week listening to you weave stories of how our vulnerability, compassion and empathy can lead us to be grateful, joyful people! Thank you, Diana!

I post my sermons these days, now that I am a weekend only pastor, preaching in small parishes. I find hope in simply sharing the Gospel. This Sunday's reading from Luke of the prodigal father parable was a lot of fun to share.

Thank you for posting that gratitude quote—I need to put that where I can see it daily!

Wow! What a message for our times! As I try to enter into the sacred dance between engagement with our world and the calm center of Zion with God in my soul, I so often stumble trying to find the calm again. This message nails it. Thanks so much, Diana!

That's from Grateful Living at their website. I'm participating in it, but am not hosting or producing it. See their site for information.

Dear Diana,

Thank you so much for your powerfully clear articulation of the radical, subversive capacity of gratefulness to resist oppression and all the madness of these apocalyptic times.

And for making me laugh: "Isn’t that the case for our lives? Thank you at the beginning; thank you at the end. And apocalypse in the middle." I need this on a t-shirt.

Here's to gratitude as both joy and resistance, both individual and collective, both internal and action-oriented.

So grateful for all the wisdom you share.

"I'n all things give thanks." Easier said than done sometimes. I was deeply moved by an interview Rabbi Sharon Brous did with Jessica Fein this morning in which they discussed Fein's recent book, "Breath Taking: A Memoir of Family, Dreams and Broken Genes." They discussed how Fein and her family, including her daughter, Dalia, dealt with the rare and ultimately fatal illness of Dalia who died at seventeen. It is an inspiring and honest look at one family's joy and gratitude in the face of incalculable loss.
